Who’s environmentally friendly now?

commercial solarI wouldn’t exactly describe myself as an ‘envious’ person, but I would say I have a bit of a competitive streak in me. And I would definitely say that Jim and I have a healthy competition going. Who’s Jim, you ask? Well, Jim’s the owner of the offices next to mine.

It’s one of those frustrating situations where two businesses of a similar type just so happen to reside in office blocks next to one another. Being in the same business, I guess it was inevitable that there was going to be some competition between us, but over the years it’s slowly intensified.

Case in point, about a month ago I ran into Jim at the nearest and best cafe and we got talking about the state-of-the-art commercial solar installed on his roof. Safe to say, I noticed the casual explanation for what it was – a textbook example of the good old humble brag. I also caught the pointed subtext of the conversation, essentially that Jim’s firm is eco-friendly and modernised whereas mine is lagging sadly behind the times.

Well, rest assured, I won’t let that implication become true. Today is the day we show the world – and Jim I guess – just how up to date we are. I had a meeting with my executive team about getting in touch with the best company for commercial solar Melbourne has to offer. If we’re going to do this, we’re going to do it right. In addition to solar, it’s also time to look into how we can make the building as a whole more environmentally friendly, maybe look at changing our lighting fixtures to become less electricity hungry and monitoring our electricity consumption much more closely. More than just electricity, I’m committed to making us the best across every front.

Then Jim can see who’s really ‘behind the times’.
